good for India, but they still need to resolve nagging problems like rampant corruption, inefficiency, pollution, proper roads, etc
the only reason I've never been to India is because its dirty and I'm a hygiene freak. The possibility of NOT falling ill when going there
seems to be zero. Everyone I know here who has been there tell me horror stories of diarrhoea, vomitting, etc, even after getting the vaccine
sweet! reminds me of Civ3 where whoever builds a space shuttle first wins! lol.
starwish places like even UK & US would seem to be dirty as compared to Singapore
. Having that said India has that side like any ...
... other developing country does, but then there is this other side on the other end which is can as swanky as any other place in the world
As far as getting sick & all.... as long as you are careful about water, you will be good. Our friend
nickhlinka spend couple of months..
... in India doing his internship in Bombay... the white boy came back in one piece... ofcourse I am biased 'cos I am from there, but he..
... maybe able to give more propective on conditions there for non native Indian...
any country that has that many people concentrated in such a small area will have issues. i'd like to see a leader from a developed country
attempt leading a country like India or China.
pretty sure they'll fall hard on their faces
meh...singapore has that too. lol.
vishalkhubani your country wouldn't even allow all its citizens to vote 180 yrs. into its creation.... so don't get me started...
btw India has few legislations pending towards eradication of 377..
dude if Mayawati becomes the PM, I am gonna denonce my Indianship (if thats even a word)... I heard somebody comparing her to Obama
what does
kaycnova means
*lwer class* , there is no classes
Oh that way... yeah, but she plays the old *class* card with people.... Imagine a PM who can't even speak English properly, think abt ...
... her foreign policies - what would those be
by dirty I mean more about the animal dung on streets
I have relatives there and my grandparents were from there so of course, I'd like to see how was/is life for them there
"animal dung on streets"
.. dudette, stop watching Discovery channel!! there ain't no dung on streets. in village farms, maybe...
... but cities are like cities. Crowded, can be littery, but now animal dung or tiger/snakes in the streets
there is! even in cities! they showed it in one of the episodes of amazing race
ha ha, I am not totally denying it. But there are always ecception. They showed on Bizarre food people eat dogs in Singapore, so does that..
.... mean each dog is killed & eaten??? TV shows exotic stuff, 'cos thatz what meake ppl watch... but its not always the general reality
LOL. Amazing Race. I love that show! Btw, I happen to think Chinatown in Singapore is gross. =(
I've never seen a place selling dog meat here. But there are a lot of restaurants in south korea selling that stuff
But durian, yes,its exotic and its delicious,I don't know why my Indian cuzzins hate it. Western media potray it is so vile
I totally believe you, but Zimmerman showed it, so if I were to beileve that TV shows depict reality, I will 've to disagree with u
there is a place in NY which sells *durian*, I want to go and try it out and 've my own opinion abt it
Zimmerman is a pussy, Anthony Bourdain LOVED it
i love durians. but it's not for everyone.
Yashoo, the quality that you get there cannot be compared to the real thing that you get in Thailand or Malaysia because
they have different grades of durians and I heard they have less "smellier" versions for Westerners
camel looks delicious, I'd so try that
Bourdain seems like a great guy, he usually appears in the media here as he frequently visits SG
i've seen him! i've seen him! sorry...just had to throw that in. lol.
liked the time he tried speaking Singlish, awww hahaha
starwish, I 've no near future plans to vist your part of world, so I think I will have try & judge
*lesser* quality to durian 2 start with
and
kaycnova I was talaking about Andrew Zimmerman, not Bourdain..... I like him tho' as well. But I think both do different yet same stuff
Zimmerman is definitely more about Food, Bourdain is sort of more about food & culture together
Bourdain is better! Hands down! Zimmerman is just a fatass that eats everything. Bourdain at least has a sense of humor.
starwish India is a culturally dense and diverse place. You can't possibly judge it based on a 30 minute Discovery Channel special.
vishalkhubani: We have anti-sodomy laws in nearly every state in this country so I have no idea what you're on about.
Speaking of which...when are you going to call me ass?!
The job position at AIG fool! I wanted you to talk to someone there about underwriting.
It turns out that I will have some free time on Saturday as of now...
I know that,
NickHlinka - most of my perceptions are also based on what other people who have been there told me
NickHlinka, if you have been there, How was your experience there?
since when are job postings private?
starwish: It's an experience for sure. But it's best to make up your own mind rather than listen to others.
but before going to India, prepare properly dailyplanet website helps a lot. For NickHlinka, ng's dad and his company helped.
and not everyone gets that kind of guidance/support etc unless they/he/she knows failry well in India
