I love my SMART board. We don't have 1 to 1 computers so its a great way for me to bring technology into my room. For me its like having a

window to the world as a place to draw my students in with engaging and interactive lessons.

Have you a document camera? Most of my teachers would give up their IWB before their document cameras!

I taught Language Arts and I used SMART board's Notebook software to create interactive lessons. I had a document camera but used it very l

little. I used step up to writing. A curriculum I love, but very intensive with their use of hand-outs.

They make teaching much more fun.

I started taking the hand-outs, which the students just threw in the trash after class and started using the info from the handouts to

create visually stimulating lessons on the smart board.

I also loved how could use the smart boards highlighter to analyze paragraphs since Step UP uses and color system to learn the parts of a

paragraph.

I have lots of Language Arts Notebook lessons already made. I'd love to share with them if you like. I taught 4th-6th LA so you might have

to do some tweaking, but it might be a starting place.

The Notebook Software should have been installed on your computer when they installed your SMART board.

When looking at the glog, the video that says Play Me and looks like a polaroid might be helpful. It shows students using a SMART board in

a variety of ways.
