That would be cool, but would stretch the timeline; one friend posting 4 plurks in succession would scroll off all other users.

Unless the swimlane can have multiple rows, but still be bunched. That would do it.

Yeah. grouping would be necessary since the timeline increments looks to be fixed by a ratio of posts/timespan.

sounds to me like you'd need a display at least 1920x1536 to make this usable.

Each post is already minimized to a single line x 35-ish char, and the timeline isn't linear. 50px tall per account could hold ~=4 posts/hr.

4 posts/hr is about as many as I could stand from somebody on Twitter, even.
