her inspiration came from the illegal immigrants from North Africa crossing the borders to the Spanish Canary Islands by boat.

Many of them had died on the journey. Searle's video shows her floating on the surface of the ocean in between

the coast of North Africa and the Canary Islands. When you are leaving, you are also arriving. leaving home in order to

arrive at a place that you can call home. Yet,in Searle's video we only see her floating in between these two homes, in the forever limbo.

but of course it is an aestheticization of unhomeliness and displacement.
