Dude!!!! HI!!!!!
long time no see!!!
MonroeJigsaw: trying to recover from a bad cold, but I'm still alive
Thought I share given all the fire I got every time
I said (and I said it a lot) that Blue Mars would have never taken off.
I do feel sorry for the ones that invested in it thinking it was the new messiah. They were warned, though, plenty.
well it had a lot of potential graphicwise
I tried it once and it was so frustrating I gave up after five minutes
it did...but SL and the open sims had more appeal (ppl like being able to build)
it had potential, i'm sorry to see it go. but yeah, system requirements + inability to create like how you can in SL, made it a lot less
attractive. it's sad, with the types of machines coming out now, i don't think system requirements would even be an issue within a
Personally, I think it never had any potential. The graphics were a nice have, but it made everything less accessible, including building
Even with the machines coming out nowadays, they simply aimed for the wrong target, and that's a fatal issue.
To run those graphics decently you need a gaming PC. And gaming PC's are normally owned by gamers.
And very few actual gamers are really interested in virtual worlds, that are more popular between people more interested in socialization
Gamers have a market chocked full of MMORPGs to satisfy their needs. Virtual worlds need to target primarily people that
aren't primarily gamers, and most of those lack powerful gaming PCs.
Blue mars competed with Second Life for the non-gamers, most of which lack the machines to play Blue Mars at all
And with all the MMORPGs in the market for the gamers that had the computers, but most of the times want a more gaming-oriented world.
Basically, utter and complete target identification failure. That's what brings most businesses to their knees.
well, i didnt get why they had no building option for free
thats for me the point in sl, wysiwig building IN the renderer
we replaced our old PC with a gamer PC for running SL. I know a few SLers who aren't gamers.
I'm not a gamer, my hubby is and he's not interested in SL at all
Whether its macro or micro, VW's must have a compelling model for business to profit with or provide a competitive entertainment value!
I'm not a gamer at all..I'm a social
person though, so SL fit my needs
just like me, I came to SL after being a chat room regular...
BryonyConstantine: see, that's exactly what I mean, most gamers aren't interested in SL at all, because it's not a game. Same about BM
While some bought a gaming PC to run SL better, it's not necessary, and the vart majority runs it on low/medium end pcs and laptops.
Most PCs powerful enough to run Blue Mars decently are owned by gamers, most of which aren't interested in the "graphic social environment"
model. And that's why Blue mars failed. They targeted people with high end PC, most ow which can't care less about the product they offered.
Their offer simply never met the demand.
