help on an urgent question : someone is giving me an Amazon Kindle as a present. As I live in Indonesia, I can't register it to Amazon.

r my Kindle won't be usable at all if I don't register it to Amazon.com ?
you have to do some sort of re-registration process i believe, but you can still use it to read ebook from your pc

i think you still can use it, registration is related to amazon activity like buying and converting books
