start small...first week just get kids used to saying hello to each other and passing it on. The next day, maybe a different language

then ask the student of the day if they have any issues they'd like to bring up. I used to do this. Have changed to something else, though

Get them to start sharing what they find important too. You may need to corral it to some specific categories.
