We also have chokecherries that grow wild. Definitely not as edible off the plant, but makes great jellies and syrups.

apparently our city Saskatoon is named after them. Latin name Amelanchier alnifolia and also called juneberries

They are quite abundant on the Canadian prairies but I've seen them also in BC.
