I remember macjedimatt helped put GEMPAK on my machine, but I never really used it, so I got rid of it

The best way to run GEMPAK on a mac is to run it in a CentOS VM. Trust me on this one. VMs are great because you can tweak them without

MacOS does a lot of things very different from traditional Linux which can make things very difficult sometimes.

macjedimatt - do you know if the default Desktop - Gnome for CentOS 5.6 contains libX11, openmotif, and libXp libraries needed for GEMPAK?

I don't remember.. I think I had to install open motif. Make sure you install g95 and the gcc compliers.

I had tried to combine the 2 DVD ISOs images using the cat command, but apparently that corrupted some files

yeah, 5.6 has 1 DVD filled with 4GB of data, the 2nd DVD is 600MB. I was able to successfully install it with just the first DVD
