...at least there's an edit button now? huuuh
ah well, now to catch up to everything!
there's so much I missed ;~; if anyone wants to poke me on it, go ahead!
where do you want me to start?
Some good write ups about happened.
here and
here
oh, thank you! I am just bluuh LJ? over here.
Long story short. The new head of LJ Russia wanted to redesign the site and take away subject lines
there was a beta test and the beta testers told him that they liked the old version of lj
then some of the english users found out about this new change and commented on his journal
he first thought they were spammers and then started ignoring them when they voice their dislike of the new look
then lj news posted something about the new design and people voiced their opinion about it
they were ignored. and then on the 21st the release went live and broke many communities and journals and people were pissed
the new look gave people migraines, it crashed browsers and computers, it wouldn't work on phones
then igrick and another user on twiter tweeted each other about what was going on and how everyone hated it
and he said "they'll get used to it"
which pissed people off and many people began jumping ship to dreamwidth
I see. wow, that is just--- I can't even comprehend why LJ and Igrick won't take their users' input. just wow /shakes head
illumina: because he thinks since he is the head of lj russia (a job he was given LAST MONTH) he can do this
even the russian bloggers were pissed
then lj kinda admitted that they released a buggy release and they can't go back to the old code because they lost it
apparently he and the designer love angelfire and want lj to look like that
oh my word whyyy? why does LJ want to go back to that kind of web design. it's hideous.
angelfire I mean, old LJ was loads better than this
no wonder I saw so many plurks about dreamwidth. the terrible customer service is really offputting.
illumina: people are starting to think he is trying to drive the "weird journals and communities" aka the fandom and rp ones off of lj
so lj can become a serious blogging site
illumina: yeah, dreamwidth had to add another server to take all the people joining and importing their journals
and dreamwidth is really smart too since everytime LJ has a ddos attack or something like this happens they send out invite codes
or like they are doing this month, having open account creations
serious blogging site?, i just facepalmed when I read that. hard to keep a blog when most of your paying customer base is leaving. :|b
but it is neat of Dremwidth to open up accounts to those that want to move. /contemplating getting some myself
illumina: it's open until the end of the year. and if you miss it. I have some invite codes you can use
oh, thank you! I think I'll try to make my accounts before the end of the year, but I'll let you know if I need an invite code.
