I mean it's not like I don't have a million other books I could be reading that I, y'know. Haven't read a million times before.
I think it's just that when I picked that book last time I was feeling stressed and anxious and
just wanted something familiar and unchallenging to read.
It's like the literary equivalent of junk food.
I enjoyed it despite its flaws. :V
Granted the first book isn't quite as junky as the later ones, but.
Yeeaaaahhh. I tried to read the one after that. I was disappointed by the apparent abandonment of the clan, which was what had made it
interesting to begin with for me. :|a
I skipped like half of the second one.
I liked the parts with Ayla struggling to live alone and inventing animal domestication and stuff
but the shit with Jondalar and his brother's sexcapades was just.
I liked the third one a lot. I think it ties with the first as my favorite of the series.
But it's got this ridiculous love triangle where everything would be solved if Ayla and Jondalar just stopped being stupid, but no.
They keep right on being stupid for like six hundred pages.
All I really know about the rest of the series is JONDALAR THE WONDER PENIS.
And my mom has told me it repeats a lot. She's been reading these since before I was born, I think.
Butyeah. There is some interesting stuff in the latter books. They meet some interesting people and invent all kinds of shit.
But they do get really repetitive in spots. :|
And there's a lot of boring sex.
With Jondalar's Wonder Penis.
