(this doesn't count as spam okay I deleted the plurk that just said yay sunshine, yay housecat life!)
When Sarah, who has the same phone as me, whipped out a Shakespeare app like the nerd she is, and it sparked my nerdy curiosity.
And then yesterday happened, and I was locked out of the building all night and day and night again (eurgh my timing sucks) and so I was
bored enough to rearrange my folders and go poking around the app store for new games. I also decided to see if I could find some Chinese
poetry that I've been looking for (yes and no, because my Mandarin is shit and I don't even Cantonese, and there aren't bilingual apps yet
for that in case you care) THE POINT HERE -sorry, rambling and cheerful this morning guys- is that if you guys have smartphones like me
THERE ARE FREE BOOKS. Hurrah!
I found two really awesome free apps full of mostly classics and traditional or ancient texts, but also some contemporary politics etc.
And there's a music festival app too. Many of you will remember that I found an app once that locates public toilets during a
potty emergency, too. Basically people can say all the shit they want to about my phone, I just never run out of reasons to love it.
Anyway, you guys should go get some free books. AND IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SMARTPHONE...the bookstore I worked for has a shitton of free ones
you can download from their website. Go to
ubookstore.com and check it out. /salute
This news is probably way more exciting to someone who frequently has no place to keep books and ends up buying the same ones repeatedly.
Anyway, thanks
hervictory for the tip. I so haven't been taking proper advantage of my phone. I usually just fuck around with the apps that
turn it into various musical instruments when I'm bored. Hahaha.
good thing I saw the housecat plurk
might need to look into those apps though 8|a
Nah dude I reiterated it here anyway so no one missed it. It's just become part of my book plurk. /thumbs up
And I know right? There's a lot of awesome random junk you can do with a smartphone. It never stops making me happy.
Oh, okay! good. smartphones are pretty much the best though. :'>
B makes so much fun of me for mine, but it's just cause she's like. Hmm. Anti-tech snobby, which I'm sure there's a word.
I mean I love books on paper too don't get me wrong. I don't have an Amazon account for a myriad of reasons. But things where no one is
losing out, like classics and public domain stuff? I'm definitely okay with getting for free.
So yeah this won't exactly stop those 'hey who wants my books?' plurks. But at least 4 of the books I recently gave away I can still read
now if I want to. /thumbs up
I think I'm supposed to be offended again. /head scratch
No dude I just like to push your nonexistent buttons. /grin
Anyway your nerdiness is frequently useful!
don't you feel like a better person for knowing that the shakespeare app exists?
Where mine just confuses and annoys people. /wink
Nah but I'm jazzed about the other ones!
Oh man, cool!
I only just got a smartphone, finally, a few months ago, I need to learn all about cool shit like this
