What's it about?

a British family, who were living in Japan (i think?) at the start of WWII

it's either Japan or China, somehow i can't remember now

...or rather, when Pearl Harbor happened, which wasn't the start

and basically it concentrates on the boy, who was separated from his folks and put in a camp and all sorts of things happen to him there

and they're really really rich, so it's definitely a growing-up sort of story

because he's exposed to all sorts of things he's never had to deal with

no, they mentioned there being a war going on between the Japanese and the Chinese at the same time, i don't know enough about the history

of that part of the world

so yeah, that's part of why i was confused! But yeah, it must start in china

they might even stay in China for the whole movie, just a China invaded by Japan
