It's for a sweater from the Little Red in the city book. I have never used lace weight before.

The same rules apply to lace weight as other yarns.

SO, I would suggest a plied yarn for a sweater. I like desert vista dye works.

I would take into account the price point per yard. So like Baruffa Cashwool or Skacel Merino Lace.

That's one of the things I love about our LYS, Yarnivore, is that have a very nice selection of laceweight.
