Orsino is p understandably horrified by the prospect due to ... well, having to access the fade, and the vulnerability involved re: demons
so here's something I've never gotten around to asking -- does the fade still exist in the same capacity in Anatole?
I mean obviously to some, or else they wouldn't have their magic at all, but like ... do the same conditions still apply?
I assume being able to access Thedosian magic would be a side-effect of mist exposure, since canonically it's something you're born with
the ability to do or not :|a
I just want to be on the same page before I start tagging things, lol
also (and less importantly), I'm not so up on my harry potter trivia re: mechanics of magic, so ... do they have something like a mana pool?
or otherwise some sort of energy-based limit?
and if so, would that be separate from a Thedas-type mana pool, or be the same source?
P much, would Anders, upon learning HP magic, be able to switch over to it when he ooms and keep on trucking? Would he require a wand? xD
sorry, I am full of the questions u_u
I...have no opinion. :| Mostly because I don't intend for DA2 magic to work for Snape; just the possibility of herbalism working
oooh ok -- and yeah, I wonder a bit about herbalism, and why it would be a mage-only thing. Maybe their potions require some sort of magic
to quicken? Because you'd think any jackass would be able to grind up some herbs and mix them in appropriate quantities :|a
I figure it probably works the same way as potions, where you have to have magical ability, though not necessarily that you have to use
That seems like a reasonable answer, at least for our purposes. >D
I don't think DA2 magic would translate, unfortunately, because it's implied that magic is innate and part of the person using it in HP
and therefore not taken from an external source (like the Fade).
It would probably take years of training, if anything.
yeah, I was thinking about that -- it's the same with DA; you can't teach someone magic if they don't possess the capability. Which is
where the Mist's augmentative abilities might come into play, if a person really wanted to?
god it's going to blow Orsino's mind when he realizes that other people (and non-mages!!!) can remember their dreams. xD
given that that's a pretty telling mage sign, haha
does he know about the broadcast minds yet?!
yes but he's under the impression that they're all memories
from what he'd seen, at least, he kinda dove for a hole and didn't mess with the forge after he realized what was going on
I didn't even think about the demon implications and he would have.
Now I wonder if I've messed up things. Argh. Have I just made Anders OOC?
it's an easy enough thing to forget, it definitely happens to the best of it
besides, we've got a bit of a smudgy slate to work with in the first place, because of the setting. Maybe it's a lot harder for demons to
connect, since technically the Fade shouldn't even exist in Anatole?
There's a lot of ways to play it -- and even if it were straight-up Thedosian magic with all it entailed, that's all the more reason to
train the shit out of whoever was afflicted with it right away, since that's p much the key to not going abomination on someone
No, he's trying to teach Mordred healing elsewhere.
