Can I do an informal survey? How do you feel about stock photos in Etsy listings? Or, if you are buying more than one braid of fiber and you only see a pic of one?

I don't mind it, assuming it matches the actual color. Sometimes you get huge differences between braids with stock photos - that would suck

meaning you trust the seller to only use a stock photo if its really close to what they are buying, like same dyelot?

i'm a really forgiving person, and I know a lot of colors are so similar when people do other varieties

so I'd trust ya. :-D Now I don't know that I'd trust just anyone, but I do have quite a bit of your stuff laying around the house. lol

If it is a stock picture I want the listing to say this. If I thought about buying the item I would think that the roving would be the same colors. If its like a

project bag then I would think that the fabric placing wouldn't be the same but it would be the same style of bag and the same fabric. So it just depends on what the item is.

As long as you state in the listing it's a stock photo, i'm ok with it!

ok, so maybe a disclaimer in the listing. I always try to be so super careful with this, so just reinforcing what I knew, thanks :-)

knittyandcolor: Id probably put it in my shop "rules" or whatever they call them...the general shop guidelines...

FiberAddiction: ok, I was debating on that vs. each listing. Im trying to be able to list more than 1 braid in each listing but still have people know what they are getting

I don't rewrite an entire listing, just copy a similar listing and change photos or other info. Makes it easier than trying to remember.

look at sites like Crown Mountain Farms, BMFA, all of those others that dye to order. You don't get individual photos before purchasing. :-) As long as people know I think they have no reason to complain.

spun2tight: good point! Hopefully I covered it.

javajennie: I do that too!

I am just seeing this. I'm okay with stock on fiber and yarn as long as it is close what is pictured in the photo. I know I've been disappointed in the past on a bag that did not have a disclaimer on the l

I wonder about the same thing with my items. For the rings, I've been using stock since I can easily replicate what is pictured but the sheep and tins I'm really hesitant to use a stock photo since each item

can differ quite a bit. Not every wishing sheep is the same size or looking at the same angle or even at the same shaped star so I've been sucking it up and doing individual pictures of each item

carys14: thanks for the feedback...I think stock photos are great for stitch markers! I think you should be fine as long as maybe you say that since your items are handmade, they may vary slightly or something
