I think the point is very clear. State funded schools are discriminating and banning students. The fact they are registered as private schools is a stupid loophole

The petition is that Georgia needs to stop giving them support.

Basically from the NYT article it looks like a bullshit workaround: people get tax deductions for giving money to a fund that provides scholarships to attend private schools

So it might not technically be public money... it sounds like it'd be a nasty question legally.

In terms of actual justice, though, fuck yes any school that's getting scholarship money sponsored by state programs shouldn't be discriminating.

I agree with those who have said the statement is misleading. The issue is about private religious schools that ban glbt students getting state funding, not about GLBT youth being banned from public schools.

I agree it's disgusting but churches and private institutions can be just as bigoted and disgusting as they want to be,

But, while the statement is completely misleading, I 100% agree that if they are going to ban students they should NOT get state funding.
