almost half way done, I didn't think I'd be able to read it, serial killers ain't my bag, but I must admit I'm getting hooked on the Lucas character.
~100 pages in.
uncomfortable with the killing descriptions
I'm hooked just taking me a little while with a new baby... I've only been kind of creeped by the squirrel scene the rest doesn't bother me
half done, not liking any of the characters but the writing style is good, and I can easily skip the yucky parts.
Altho I didn't appreciate the first 2 selections of the club I am loving the discipline of being part of the group, it's like having homework
My goal is to be the voracious reader I was as a teen and young adult. I lost it somewhere over the years, probably when computers entered my life.
registereduser: You should join some groups on LT, there's tons to choose from with challenges, monthly group reads, etc, it's lots of fun and you have tons of encouragement!
melbymonkey: gotta take it slow, I still work over 40 hours a week, baby steps
What is LT?
I lurv librarything and goodreads - but they can just be more time sinks too!
yes but at least you can get something out of it
oh yes. I just have to limit my time on each or whoops, three days have gone by!
registereduser: hahaha. Well a good one is the Monthly Author Reads group, an author is voted on each month (well, 3 at a time are chosen) and everyone reads a book (or more, if they're so inclined) by that
author & talks about their thoughts on them. It's very laid back!
And the choices are much more, erm, literary?, than these 2 have been, haha.
it made me realize how many books I would love to re-read before I die
yay! 3 new friends
I'm going to finish the book today, anyone else?
I dropped out on that book... just not my kind of book - creeps me out. sorry
morandia: I was able to skip the creepy parts but the rest is just BLAH. It's interesting that Stephen King thought this book was "suspenseful"!
I'm about half way left my kindle at home will finish soon
I read about 10% and quit.
I think it would be a lot nicer if the book were a different type each time. There's nothing wrong with thrillers, but to me the point of a book club is to branch out, have variation, and read things that spark
discussion. Thrillers are, generally, quick entertaining reads, and that's all. Of course there are exceptions, but... I think we could have more actual discussion if other types of book were chosen.
Maybe that's something that needs to be changed someone picks a genre or we have a set list of genres to rotate through and then someone picks a book
have we stopped discussing Harry?
there's a book about 0 i've been meaning to read
OCR of Rules of Prey is completeish
should have a e-book soon
no,
DevSpamNull talk about Harry if you wish. I'm 86% done with Rules of Prey and boy is it heating up! Pleased that even though there have been several murders, there isn't a lot of gratuitous gore,
the focus so far is more on the chess game between characters.
bronsont: I must be a delicate flower because the gore was too much and too disgusting for me. What was most disturbing was the maddog's thoughts.
I got more of a sense of what he was like than what Lucas was like!
I understand that, I read lightly the gory parts, but I'm feeling they are reaching the checkmate in 2 moves point.
OMG OMG OMG Just finished Rules of Prey, and no spoilers, but I repeat
OMG
chapters 10 & 12 are missing
bronsont: I can't wait to see what is so "OMG" worthy
that would have saved me ten bucks
no, it's hard to read as is
The ending was very "David Baldacci-ish" if you've read any of his works.
haven't figured out how to bookify it so it works with kindle reader et al
now better looking with 1.5 line spacing
When is the Apr book going to be picked, so people can look into getting it if they're interested?
