Granted there are days in between where I get 6-8, but they are interspersed with times I can't get back to sleep for 24+ hours and I am like "body, what's up bro."

I will try rainy day + jazz! Sound usually isn't a problem for me, I've got a fan in my room that I run and it sufficiently blocks a 3-year-old.

I'll fall asleep during guided meditation if I'm truly exhausted but usually it's a good exercise to put me in a state of calm before attempting actual sleep

meditation may be the key, I've been trying a breathing exercise that almost works so I guess just take it a step farther? (thinking)

yep, try a short guided meditation on youtube and see if relaxing your brain and body will help you actually fall asleep

The mellow jazz channel on skyfm is great. There's also jazzradio.com, so whatever floats. Also I have found that socks to bed help in staying asleep, though it's been getting warmer so feel it out.

Ahhh I'm the exact opposite when it comes to socks, I like to be able to stretch my toes! What I usually do there is curl the entire blanket under my legs, like I'm some kinda burrito.

I do the same. I just read it helps and it's helped me and another friend, so I thought it might be worth a try. Maybe a thin pair worn loosely.

Yeah... I have a pair of long socks that might work! I almost instinctually kick off ankle socks.
