The hive in the wall of my friend's shed ended up being a lot bigger than expected. The comb was mostly too soft for us to salvage as planned, but we got the queen with some comb and probably at least have the

bees moved into a new hive. They could still possibly fly away, but it is looking like they will stay put.

And I only got stung about a half dozen times.

yikes, that hive was really big! And half a dozen times is 6 times more than I could take lol.. well done.

That really was an extensive hive. Hope you enjoyed doing that and glad you can cope with being stung so much! Me, I can barely watch you doing that!

I would have liked to have taken more pictures, but my gloves were covered with honey and gunk so it was getting hard to operate the camera and I was a little worried about just gumming it up completely.

when will you know if it was a success?

Within a week. If they stay in the hive and start building new comb then chances are good they will stick around long term.
