THIS is what people need to be enraged about!
how many kids have to fucking die before we address all the issues here
sad thing is...these issues will never be addressed
that makes me so mad....they need to legalize it already.
An ex-boyfriend of mine was adopted an beaten by his adoptive parents, taken away and beaten while in foster care. It's so sad that happens but it's not uncommon
There is so many failures in the whole CPS bs that just need a major overhaul
So sick and so pissed to see things like this happen to little innocent babies
Thank you, anti-drug hysteria.
Anti-drug hysteria, plus CPS workers demoralized, browbeaten, overworked, until the sane ones eventually either flee or get canned for whistleblowing, leaving only the desensitized drones ... so many fails.
This is so horrible. Pot alone should not be a reason to place a child in foster care. You know how easy it is to be approved to be a foster parent? Have a house, no serious criminal record, and
Look like someone who is nice when they come to check you out that's it. At least here. My cousins were placed with the nicest looking people ever. Turns out they were rapists. This poor little girl.
Why was CPS even involved with this family to begin with?
I admit I'm not 100% convinced of weed's safety, and I'm not thrilled that dad was smoking up. However, if he was drinking a couple of beers everyday, would CPS even have bothered? I doubt it.
The video I posted after the original post gives more info. There was a bit more involved as the mother had a medical condition, but they were in the process of getting their child back.
unfortunately the foster mother decided thowing the child on the ground was somehow something to do.
Jesus Christ the poor thing.
also, weed is MUCH safer than alcohol and if people even got smashed after their kids went to bed, then I don't think that would have played a factor in a CPS decision
I'm deathly allergic to weed, I feel sick just smelling someone who's been smoking. That's why I'm not convinced weed is harmless (sorry everyone).
This right here is exactly why I've always wanted to foster after I was married and had a good home to provide.
sometimes people are allergic to the mold that is present in weed that is not properly harvested and transferred, but I believe it could cause some people allergies too. Outside of that, not so much harm, imo
and I don't see how that would weigh into a CPS decision anyway.
This whole thing has nothing to do with pot. This is about foster parents who killed a child in their care. It's true that the story reports the reason that the child was taken there was due to the parents'
pot use, but in the end, the foster parents are the ones who are (allegedly? Not sure if there was a conviction or just a charge so far) responsible for the child's death.
There is no reason to think that they would be any better or less abusive to any other child placed into their care for any other reason.
The real story here is about poor child protective services, not about who should be allowed to smoke what.
But this poor kid wouldn't have ended up in foster care in the first place if it wasn't for the admitted weed use. And it seems to me she shouldn't have been there in the first place.
True, but if not her then very likely someone else.
From what I can tell, it's not like dad was smoking Snoop Dogg levels of weed. I wish I knew why CPS was up in this family's business to begin with.
the crazy thing is I have looked into being a foster parent and the paperwork and qualifications are outragous...I dont see how these people get to be foster parents
The point is, dkronfeld, that recreational pot usage should not play into removing a child from a home at ALL unless there is actual negligence. Sorry, but this is very much about that
however, we don't know all the details, so there could be more to it.
Actually, I didn't realize this was a replurk when I commented. I will refrain from commenting further except to say that I agree that recreational pot use should probably not play into the removal of a child..
from the home. We can agree or disagree on the rest.
that's fine if you want to focus on the Foster parents that killed the girl. That is certainly worth discussing. I just don't agree that it has nothing to do with pot
i don't mean to try and turn the death of a little girl into a pro pot deal. I'm just saying that if it weren't for BS attitudes & laws, there's less of a chance the girl would be dead.
XiomaraMendes: I have alcohol intolerance gene.. all things have downside for someone ..
but back to the tragedy... it just does my head in..
