We still have a few detail to iron out, but if you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact us via the mod account or through the FAQ pages.
Opening is still a month and change away, however we want to make available as much information as we can in advance!
We'll be posting a full ad to ATP tonight, so please be on the lookout for that.
And we would love it if you could give us a signal boost and spread the word around! We look forward to playing with you all in the future!
oh this looks very interesting
ahahaha, that tagline on the profile
That does look pretty cool.
sounds like a good place to app Vincent
I thought of the movie at first
aaaaaaaaaahh I can't decide if I want to alter my oc to fit the setting or drag him from his (magic-based, barely touching on a steampunky industrial revolution) homeworld
...no I def want to drag him from his homeworld
oh hey there is only one app owo
horizonmods will there be only one app for ocs and ous?
Hello! There is only one application for both OCs and fandom characters. If it's an OC, you can indicate that in the canon section of the application.
At this time, all original characters must originate from the Event Horizon universe. This policy may change at a future date, however.
No problem, I am happy to help!
I will be keeping me eye out
And thank you to everyone for your interest! I am really excited and pleased!
we've had an event at my game based on this. so when I saw it I literally said out loud: oh my god
this looks very interesting...though the setting seems really really broad?
would pilots be allowed to enter with their own piloted vehicle eg ( TIE Fighters, Gundams) or would they just be spit out with whatever they're wearing at the moment?
Keeping an eye on this...
Also, since I feel I need to ask this with any game, are journals with more than one character allowed?
Where you're going, you won't need eyes to see
Hi hello! Hopefully I can answer a few of these questions really fast. Or at least try to.
sabriel The world build is intentionally pretty broad. While I'm personally really excited about the mecha element of it, one of our comods is more in it for the space opera.
We wanted to give multiple avenues for gameplay, basically, so that people aren't automatically steamrolled into a military role if they have no interest in it, or if their character isn't suited for it.
Hopefully, there can be a little bit of space opera something for everyone.
menaceonkeys As the EH world has no superpowered humans (as of yet), your AUed OC would have to be a regular, garden variety, non-powered person.
Hmm okay. My concern is that if the setting is this broad, it might be hard to get CR if characters are spread out all over the place.
impulsives Everyone is pulled through the wormhole with the clothes on their back. Your character could arrive in a flight suit
for a mecha.
And their experience piloting might fast track them within the Argonaut program.
But Amuro couldn't bring in his Gundam, and Shinji couldn't have an Eva.
Don't get me wrong though, I love both space opera and mecha.
Nerdman42 The game is community-based, so I don't immediately see a problem with that? But I think it would greatly depend on your own organizational skills and keeping everything tidy within the journal.
Tossing this out there, but haven't there been wormhole-displaced people in-universe for 70 years or so? Would it be possible to play one that was displaced in the first opening rather than the current?
Yes! You would just have to account for their time within the universe.
It would be similar to playing an AU, but not quite, and we'd be very willing to work with you on hashing out details of their backstory within the EH universe, if you needed any help there.
It would also be possible to play an AU version of a canon character who is related to someone from an earlier wave of wormhole displaced people. That's more tangentially related, I'm just putting it out there
I think in your situation, though, it would be about accounting for the time they've already spent within the universe, and remembering that you'd be playing a significantly older version of that character.
Or perhaps they came in as a child? I think there are multiple ways to pull that one off, actually, the more I think of it. It's just about accounting for them within EH.
Might be too complicated for a simple answer, but the reason the question occurred to me is the earlier question about AUed OCs is that an early-displacee might have teachable skills...
That would have to be handled on a case by case basis, I think.
That said, most teachable skills, at least where supernatural things are concerned, rely upon a canon have a precedence for the skill.
As an example, magic is teachable in the Marvel Universe, (to those with a gift for it but also) because magic exists already within that univese.
So, you could app... The Scarlet Witch, for example, and play her as someone brought in with the first wave of wormholed people, but.
I'll swap this over to PM territory at some point, then, lest I overly derail the plurk.
While she herself could do magic within the universe, she wouldn't be able to teach it to a native because they just don't have the aptitude at all.
Yeah sorry, plurk is being extremely um. Something over here.
If you guys do have really specific questions about a character or particular scenario, feel free to PM the mod account (preferably on DW, because we do share this plurk and I wouldn't want it getting missed).
Or post it to the FAQ. It's very possible someone else has had similar thoughts and that way we can get a dialog going that they can see and benefit from too.
Looks interesting. I do love space.
just dropping in to say this is the derek player you tagged the other day in app this plz
If you have any questions, please let us know!
We're all really pleasantly surprised by the feedback we've received so far and we'll keep our plurk updated as we approach Sep. 20th.
