I couldn't help but think of FeistySam 's Plurk about "certain elements" in literature/film that are a turn off, when I went to a local video store, & purchased "Hobo With a Shotgun" and "The Lords of Salem".
Why? Do you choose movies with "certain elements" in them? 
Yes...and I was in a particular mood for a certain...grindhouse grade-type of horror movie, which is a genre that a lot of people don't really see the appeal of.
Do you watch genuine grindhouse, or neo-grindhouse a la Quentin Tarantino?
TBH - "Quentin Tarantino" is a pretty immediate nope for me. 
I don't like his face
or his movies lol
I don't like his violence.
yes, what little I've been exposed to was particularly icky and gave me nightmares
I don't like violence in general, but on film it is worse.
Quentin is pretty hit or miss with me. I'm always sure to give him a chance, though.
I have a certain historic appreciation for Rutger Hauer, so I've been meaning to go down at least one of those paths sooner or later 
hard to believe it's been over 30 years since he played Roy Batty in Blade Runner 
PollyPaperclip ...I've seen probably more 60s/70s grindhouse stuff than your average bear, at least. The DVDs put out by www.somethingweird.com and www.mondomacabrodvd.com/... are great fun.
