Goannas are usually wary of humans. It noticed us from afar and moved off the path and onto the tree till we passed. That one was about 2m long. We saw another bigger one but it disappeared into the undergrowth

I was going to ask the same question. Very unique critter but that's too close for me. How fast are they?

They are just a big lizard.
