also definitely owning up to being mostly absent this past month. life and work have both been kind of overwhelming.

i actually like the fact that HIC's pace is a bit slower, that's about all that i can handle for any game (and also why i'm not someone who plays more than one game at a time - i can't commit to that much)

Well, that's 10 who've responded. Plus the mods. So, keeping up with the transparency, what do we do? We've got two who are gonna keep being absent for at least a month, and four who have been life-overwhelmed.

The idea that just popped into my mind is either for every player to privately PM this plurk account with plans, or what they intend to do... or just have everyone do that publicly?

Potentially, instead of day four starting, have a 24-day period of getting-everyone's-stuff-in-order? Permitting backtags, permitting backdated posts? Letting everyone get back on track?

Make Day 3 last until April 26th instead of April 12th and treat this as an extended period for everyone to fix their things?

I'm asking all of you: What do?

What other options are there, what possibilities are there? What are we looking for?

I'm inclined to agree, but I feel like I should be the elephant in the room. I don't necessarily agree, but I just want to remind everyone that was around for Scrib how that worked out when we tried the same.

I don't really want to see HIC just end, either, but I also don't want to watch it slowly wither.

I would say it's a good idea so that people can catch up but like Kyle I don't want to watch the game die from loss of interest rather than a mutual decision to end the game

Presently I can see two, maybe three players who don't need the recoup time. So in my eyes that means the opinions of the other eleven are very, very necessary. Because a slow dying-out for the game is not fun.

I'm willing to give it another try after I get moved and get my medical problems settled. But that all depends on how many other opinions we get, like you said.

So I'm on both sides of the fence depending on how many other responses we get.

what about an option where the time continues to progress as originally, but we have the option of back dating with impunity - to include updating quest logs for previous days?

this way, those who are more active still have the ability/potential to keep tagging w/o their characters being kind of in limbo.. but those of us who have been unable to tag can feel like we've more control

over what our characters may have done during that time period?

for me, specifically, i know i kind of just rushed and threw together something that would make sense for Jay to have done for day 2 without much/any interaction with the rest of the team at the last minute

and i only did that because i wanted to at least feel like he accomplished something, even if it was off screen

i'm not sure that'd solve all problems, but it'd at least give people an 'out' for explaining ICly why their character was indisposed as they/we get things sorted

At least for me. :V And you can kinda excuse it because canon itself did a lot of timeline hopping.

We're going to stick with the players we have, the logistics of adding new players doesn't really work out.

The biggest concern that I have is: Even if we delay a bit, players who are behind are still going to feel behind. Players who aren't are either going to be vegetables or get further ahead.

Homestuck is complex and convoluted sometimes, so getting confused is a thing that happens. I'm only confident in my knowledge because of my experience and knowledge from modding a previous game.

Also for the record if the voice for your character changes or there's a way you realize they should be played, I'd say a bit of a "canon update" for them is acceptable since they're your character.

Sometimes realizations for how to handle a character happen while you're playing them, and that's cool. But if a voice changes, it's a bit harder to handle but hopefully there's something that can be done?

Originally I realized that I had messed up Noctua's voice and characterization in a few ways, so I was taking a few week hiatus to analyze what went wrong and how to fix it.

Between that and a few fun financial problems, I was too agitated to sit and talk things out. I'm working on the financial crap this next month.

As far as planning wtf Noctua's been up to, and how I'll catch up on things... My first thought is to take advantage of the fact that she's a Sylph of Time (implying a quest involving healing of time).

Basically, I want to cheat. I'm thinking that in Noctua's late Day 1 exploration of LoTaS, she encountered an area of distorted time. To everyone else she stopped existing for however long it takes to catch up.
