I'll probably be around sporadically, but I don't imagine I'll be doing much RP until I get settled at the new job and come back from the family reunion.
If there's something you want to do and can deal with super slowtime, ping me.
I was hoping my current employer would let me go early so I could get adjusted at the new job before I had to take time off, but apparently I'm so critical they won't let me go until my two weeks are up.
It's pretty much standard practice at a lot of tech places to let leaving employees go when they put in their notice and just pay them out (and that's what this company did with my housemate).
If you guys don't mind me being slow, I can probably do it!
I just don't want to keep people waiting if they're hoping to get something done super quick.
Okay, definitely do! My current job is pretty slow during the day, so I can do daytags if I'm feeling writer-y.
Hey, congrats! Any pinging on which one you got?
Also, I'm so sorry about the loss. :c I hope things balance out.
It's just that kind of week, I guess! I'm taking the job with the company I had the interview with last week; I really liked the work atmosphere.
Dang, sweet.
I might poke you later to squee at you. X3
Not Valve or IBM. Valve is taking way too long and IBM wants me to work the rest of my life!
(Seriously, no exaggeration there.)
That's pretty insane. Like lifetime contract??
More like "you'd be on call 24/7 365 days a year."
"Please become an automaton."
So if a client needed me like, in the middle of dinner or my birthday or a girl scout meeting, I'd have to drop everything and drive out there to fix their network or whatever.
I mean, I could work anywhere in the tech industry after working there, but I am pretty sure I'd burn out.
The job we talked about at the restaurant. The one I was worried about and got anyway.
All that worrying for nothing...
aaaa congrats on the job!!!
and yeah i have a friend who's IT for a hospital pharmacy and she's on-call 24/7, can confirm that shit's harrowing
Thanks! And yeah, all my friends have said the same.
ohh congrats on getting the job!
