[Comic thoughts] So, with the new Thor coming out in the fall, I'm now wondering...what exactly makes an individual worthy of wielding the hammer, anyway?
Cuz there's lots of good people in the 616 verse, and the mcu, and just the comic multiverse in general. Good people who the hammer decided 'nope you ain't gonna pick me up you ain't worthy'...but why?
Which I guess makes sense from an out of universe point of view. From a writer's stand it's probably nothing in particular. But is there something in universe? Like...hm.
Thor, Beta Ray Bill, Steve, and Wonder Woman are all worthy. In a what-if, Natasha was worthy. I just wonder if there's something they all do that makes them worthy.
The idea of self sacrifice and putting the good of the many above your own safety and interests seems to be a likely candidate, but there are characters who are like that who aren't necessarily good people...
