I didn't even knew I was gonna be pre-judged, if I did, I would have detailed the act a bit mor
at the con I go to, they only have a certain number of spaces, so you have to try out to get into the competition
yeah... tho they at least could warn there would be try outs
I would have written a better description
Yeah, the cons here do because there is limited time but they are more laxed tham masquerade because the latter is more based on costume
yeah, this one only had 2 more laxed... and apparently they ended up having this shit.
Am I the only one who hates this sort of elitism? I mean, I didnt even cared about the competition part, I only wanted to do the skit
Cosplay has gotten really damn elite though, especially in comparison to when I started cosplaying
but I also feel like the level of craftsmanship has gone really up.
since things are so easily accessible now
I personally like the craftsman portion better than the skits
but at least at our con, I don't understand how some of the skits get to the final show
a lot of the ones that get through are pretty painful
maybe they focus more effort into looking after the masq and not so much skit contests? it is a shame since skits are suppose to be entertaining
Speaking as a cosplayer, I do enjoy the craftsmanship of cosplay a lot more than things like skits (sorry) but i just like seeing what people dish out
Plus, ngl, I am better at making things than performing a play in them haha
but back to your skits issue, i think it may be due to time restriction and entertainment. i know many cons where skit competitions get really shafted so to encourage good content they do auditions to get in
afterall, it is a competition, really. they have to do auditions for everything because of time
yeah it's just sometimes you wonder... if those are the ones that got in, how bad were the ones that didn't make the cut?
Everything is already full.
Yeah, but I like skits, as a cosplayer that is my favorite part of costumes (and afterwards weapons)
at our con there is always at least 1 or 2 really, really excellent skits
that never win :[ the system is rigged
And I take things rather alright, when they tell me before hand I am about to be judged and the circunstances
In this case, I got an email I was entered
got the materials for the skit
and now got an email saying i wasn't in because they evaluated my rough summary as not good enough
Considering i am in the middle of moving and don't know if I'll be in the same country by the time of a next con
woah wait they didn't even see the performance????
nope, they asked for a rough summary (and that I could deliver the actual detailed script later on)
wow i can't even- what. ok, it is one thing when it comes to performance but this ain't no big shit production this isn't time for taking scripts or ideas i just- WOW
Yeah, I am actually talking to other rejects, and there was groups and no one can really get what the criteria they used
x.x this is some weird you have ther
certain types of skits. most don't though
plus... the ones in California have strict time limits
