I lit my corncob pipe with a red hot iron rod I pulled out of my brothers blacksmith forge

while I waited for the iron to heat so I could strike it in tandem with my brother with a 10lbs hammer

so we could make a prod for a 650lbs crossbow

in flannel shirts and handlebar mustaches

and venison pasties and scotch whiskey waiting in the house when we got done...

We went in a couple days later to finish it, and now its up to me to do the wood working for it and make the stock of the bow

we have plans drawn out for 5 bows right now. our first two are going to be 14th century English bows with goatsfoot leavers

then a 15th century German hunting bow with a craniquin and a 1300Lbs wall bow with a windlass

and finally a small hand crossbow for my sister-in-law

well, when you realize that you have all the skills required to make a crossbow...you just kinda make crossbows

that thing lets him pull back 300lbs like that. they are insane

still not as fast as a Belthook draw, but thats only for 150-200lbs

the idea that crossbows take forever to load is silly. that guy fires off 3 shots from that windless bow in about 56 seconds.

thats as fast as a Civil War Minuit Man

and that thing is a "slow" crossbow
