I'm caught up on Haikyuu and Oofuri so I was thinking of looking at Ace of Diamond. I buy all my western stuff in floppies so they're hard to transport to and from.

i like ace of diamond too. the manga is better than the anime imo b/c the anime suffers from EXCESSIVE STILLFRAMES. my only issue with the manga is that the scanlations are not always the best

usually they're decent visual quality but often the translation quality is ...not good

Ace of the Diamond kinda suffers from a slow start, but it's not long before the introduction of Chris-senpai and Chris-senpai changes everything

XD i don't really have a fave in ace of diamond... i guess i like sawamura and miyuki best maybe? but i don't have super strong feels about anyone. but i enjoy it.

Yeah, Ace of the Diamond is not like Oofuri (or Haikyuu for that matter) where there are these strong indelible characters who you have to love… it's much more focused on team play and baseball.

yeah my favorite part about ace of diamond is the bullpen management haha

it does make a fun/interesting coutnerpoint to oofuri since oofuri is "brand new tiny team!" and daiya is "big powerhouse school that recruits ppl from all over the country"

I have not read Slam Dunk yet! I'm a bit hesitant since I have little understanding of basketball. Volleyball and soccer were the designated girl sports for my crappy public school.

But Daiya complementing Oofuri sounds fun I could make up crossover hate ships.

slam dunk does a good job of explaining basketball even if u know absolutely nothing about it! it is imo the gr8st sports manga ever (even tho oofuri is still my own favorite)

but yeah daiya is gr8 too so u can't go wrong there!

haruna's pitching style has some similarities 2 furuya's but haruna talks a lot more hahaha

Yeah, I've noted the pitching similarities between Haruna and Furuya!!! It made me like Furuya before I ever really knew much about him, and he is still my favorite DnA pitcher

to give an idea of the feel of slam dunk, when I first read haikyuu I really thought it was like partway btwn oofuri and slam dunk heh

Miyuki would almost not be interesting with Haruna because he'd be able to manage him perfectly and would get great results out of him while perfectly taking care of his ego

oofuri is the ~feels~ side of haikyuu, slam dunk is the humor and ORYAA!! machismo haha

I would like to see Haruna get with a catcher who is actually great for him but I am enjoying him having his Trials now, because those trials are important for shaping his character as an amazing pitcher

Soccer anime sounds super fun, I will have to try it some time. I'm leaning towards Daiya so I can make sense of the shipping on my dash but will keep Slam Dunk on the backburner.

If I am masochistic enough later, I might look at the Yowapeda manga. Print is generally a more forgiving media as far as pacing is concerned.

and yeah a strike against slam dunk there... it DID actually have a good sized fandom back in the day, and lots of shipping, but nowadays p dormant, if u want something active

I tried reading the yowapeda manga but liked it less than the anime lol. but yeah maybe the pacing might be better. I quit it during the training camp race vs the 2nd years, but kept going with the anime
