I once knew a church with a bitchin' potluck every Maundy Thursday. Sadly, both in and out of character, I'm not exactly the best around Catholicism

had a sleepover with his best friend for, like, three years where we'd go to evening services, pick him up, and then deposit his smug blonde ass back on his doorstep on either Friday or Saturday

I'm just surprised because Mom's parents are Catholic... though it's possible it was mentioned when I was very young and I just didn't pay attention

It's not as closely observed as the big ones, but the stripping of the sanctuary's pretty damn powerful

We didn't drop the lights, but there was no benediction and everyone left in complete silence

I kind of got emotionally choked up during the sermon, too, so the solemn feel really had an impact on me.
