Because I am curious and because I'm familiar with some other folks who work on analytics: do you find that gender has a strong correlation to effectiveness of marketing strategies?

I've worked across a variety of industries, and there are always plenty of examples of predictable/intuitive/depressing gendered behavior

in the CPG world women tend to be more effective targets because they tend to more effectively consume offers...for example, remembering 6 different coupons

while in pharma, male doctors are more susceptible to salespeople (often young communications majors hired right out of big 10 schools...cough

but the question is kinda tricky, because gender is so "baked into" marketing. If it makes sense, I don't think it's about gender affecting marketing so much as marketers are obsessed with gender

in hospitality/cruising, we haven't seen any big effects based on gender...it's more about how you like to travel and whether you like gambling

That meshes with what I've hear elsewhere - I know someone who does the "consider this too" type of work and they say that previous purchase history is proven by data to be a way better

It's true! Also generally your financial profile (income, assets) and your zip code beat out gender
