how do you idly tell someone you want them to leave you alone

because he isnt a bad guy i just really, REALLY don't want to talk to him the way he wants to talk to me

i can't handle the immense amounts of affection he wants to give me, and he talks about things like they ARE going to happen

when we dated, he called me 'the one', and red flags were thrown up everywhere

i just... i really need him to go away. i don't mind being his friend but he really needs to move on because he has this false slimmer of hope that i'm going to come back to him

i don't think there is a gentle solution to this. sometimes you just have to be up front, if you want to stay in touch with him.

and it could turn out to be irreconcilable. but you shouldn't have to put his emotional needs over yours, that's not right.

I doubt it. Breaking up with him was like yelling at an eggplant. But I will have to do it soon, and I will have to do it firmly. Perhaps blurting it out might work, lol

one thing i've found helps with that kind of thing is

writing it out

even if you don't want to tell him through a letter, you can at least write it out to make sure its all clear in your head, and then after you tell him just

slide him the letter so he can reread what you just said
