what are they going to do with the ones that are already in captivity?
i feel like the intentions were probably noble but there's a lot of stuff i don't see getting addressed in this bill
The Act makes it illegal to “hold in captivity, or use, a wild-caught or captive-bred orca for performance or entertainment purposes."
so what's going to happen to the orcas born in captivity? since it will be illegal to house them?
legislation like this talks about seaworld specifically but it isn't going to affect only seaworld
aquariums throughout california, that have contributed in innumerable ways to the education of the public as well as to the development of marine biologists and veterinarians, encouraging these selfsame calls
to action will be forced to comply with these regulations. which says nothing about the number of animals rescued and deemed non-releasable.
i feel like however good the intentions may be here, this bill is painfully shortsighted
what happens to the next whale rescued off the coast of santa cruz and deemed non-releasable?
no one in the state will be allowed to take it in, so what are the other options?
