There is nothing more aggravating than a museum section that looks really really interesting and isn't translated into English

The coin museum here had an entire section on magic and money with dragons and illustrated wizards and what I suspect were dwarves or kobolds or whatever, but it was only in Swedish

Also it's raining and I didn't bring my jacket. Again.

Sob yes, it's what makes me sad about travel dreams. I really wish they'd include qr codes that would have the info for each pop up in whatever language you needed

It's less common than you might think, English is enough the common language that I'd say the majority of museums have a fairly large percentage translated into English and a large minority have all of it.

And lots of places are experimenting with technology, but honestly mostly it's so bad I've given up on trying them unless they look unusually well-done or there's just no point in the museum without them

The pot museum in Amsterdam was like that - there would be absolutely no point in doing it without the audio guide, because there was basically no information available in text

if you do go to Malbork Castle, rest assured that their audio guide does have English as an option.

Oh good! I gotta admit I barely ever do audio guides, though. I just hate standing around listening to headphones

It's one where you only listen when you input the number for the spot you're in, so you can listen as much or as little as you want

I might if it's free, at least. I don't normally like them enough to spend the money on them

I don't remember if there was an extra charge.

There usually but not always is, in my experience

I know the Wieliczka Salt Mines had headphones, but that was so you could hear the guide him/herself better in a big group of 30ish people. (thinking)

(and that charge was built-in)

Huh, that makes sense. I haven't run into that yet, but I don't take a lot of guided tours
