i am such a nerd for alien force but it's the original series i have on DVDs so i watched that first

except for SEASON 2 DISC 1 which must have had a faulty printing or something because i've bought two separate copies of that season and the first disc ended up unreadable for both

WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME, CARTOON NETWORK

i wish i knew what i was doing re: work after the next 2-3 weeks so i'd feel more secure spending money, i really really really wanna buy Alien Force on DVD

naturally my favorite episodes are about kevin, because. i love him

he's my childhood son

i know i'm one of those ppl that tends to spout annoyingly thinks in the vein of OMG!! THIS CHILDREN'S CARTOON IS SO DARK AND ~EDGY~ ZOMG

and of course ben 10 of all things really isn't but it's the stuff they did get away with that i'm so about because it's still in the middle of all the contrived sci-fi superhero silliness

which they don't apologize for/shy away from at all it's so MURICA: the cartoon

and that's why you actually do get taken aback when stuff happens in an episode like say, i dunno, the main character's best friend just literally fucking murdered a guy on screen and got away with it

like not even a kids' show thing it's just so gleefully refreshing to see a good guy just GO IN AND FUCKING REVENGE KILL SOMEONE for a change instead of taking the high road!

the bad guy kills kevin's dad ten years ago so now that he's a big guy he sees the opportunity for revenge and he fucking takes it. not an ounce of goddamn remorse and it ties up the story, never comes up again

i just love the subversion since there's the OH YES HERO MOMENT where he has a chance to step back and take the high road and of course he will he's a good gu--NOPE
