I think what makes Killgrave horrific is that he does bad things not simply because he want to achieve anything, but mostly because he can do it.

He sees people as tools and doesn't care about them, and that makes him even more frightening than Fisk.

Nevertheless, I believe Matt can ultimately defeat him however luckless he is. (with lots of trauma I believe XD
