最近美國有團隊發表了一篇Paper，Characterization of an Injury Induced Population of Muscle-Derived Stem Cell-Like Cells，結論雖然沒有証明STAP細胞的存在，但另一方面提到「給予老鼠的肌肉細胞刺激以後，可變成類似ES或是iPS的『類似幹細胞』，並命名為iMuSCs。
