oh my gosh so em and i played last night at her friends' house, and a bunch of her friends from high school showed up and i have not laughed that hard in such a long time

our dm pulled a campaign from the book for low leveled characters so we wouldn't all rage quit immediately

i know a little bit of how things work from watching critical role but the math stuff....adding modifiers, counting the distance from you to the enemy, it's much harder than I though!

so most of our group had randomly generated characters by the DM (including a LE drow named Alton that I called Alton Brown the whole night)

but one guy made a half orc bard with like 16 strength who rhymes and i was like Here we Fucking Go

the first fight against a bunch of lizards and he went unconscious

which I didn't pass a stealth check so I guess it's technically my fault

my character is a half-elf druid (which i will talk about afterwards if u wanna know more about her) and I forgot to cast pass without trace like an IDIOT (but I did get a nat. 20 on the initiative!!)

not that that matters lmfao

emily rolled a one and shot one our dwarf with her bow and we were losing our shit

it was incredibly bad y'all, like so unbelievably bad

idk why the word one is in there but anyway, we killed the lizards, I used call lightning to make up for my Mistake

but the bard was flipping out because none of us are melee characters, we're all ranged and "WE HAVE NO HEALER?????"

I casted cure wounds and I was like this is exactly why I did this. cause i knew no one else would be the healer. but everyone else was like why didn't you just let him die, dont bring him back

so the guy that hired us was like hey cool, listen they work for a dragon so you should fight the dragon too. so we go to this cave with ruins to find a holy sword

a friend joined late so he became the only tank and we had to fight a bunch of wraiths, so we put him in front of all of us in these tiny ass rooms

he gets the golden sword because all of us are too nervous to open the coffin it was in (thus summoning the wraith)

but the coffin was filled with a bunch of other neat stuff like a necklace of fireballs and a love potion that emily immediately claimed for herself

so we're trying to leave, fuck up another stealth thing, and run right into the dragon. we're all screaming like how do we even fight this thing, and then emily goes "I'm gonna make that dragon fall in love."

"With me."

the DM's face was priceless. so I casted haste on her, only for her to FALL UNCONSCIOUS IMMEDIATELY because of the dragon's breath

and the bard's like fuck it, if I can't throw her up there to stick it in the dragon's mouth, I'm going to toss it into it's mouth.

so he takes it off emily's prone tiefling body, and rolls a ten.

we're like FUCK IT'S FUCKIN GONE WE'VE WASTED THIS OPPORTUNITY

but then the bard added his modifiers and. the dragon rolled lower.

THE WHOLE THING IS ON EMILY'S STORY ON SNAPCHAT RIGHT NOW WE LOST OUR SHIT

the dragon immediately rolls over and starts snuggling this ridiculous looking half orc

and then scoops him up and flies away LMFAO

and that's where we stopped. i have no clue how we're going to get him back, I'm only level 5, I can't turn into flying creatures yet. but it was hilarious.

that's the story about how we fought our first dragon. i can tell we're going to have very Quality campaigns.

also we have no idea how long this potion lasts. I'm nervous hahaha. but it was so fun! I can't wait to do it again ; w ;

i hope we get to do more rping, cause that's my jam

and we started at level 5!!! it was nice because i didn't feel like I was starting with three spells

the love potion was hilarious. i think emily decided her character was flirty and wanted to find love, so she was like OOH ME ME ME

another funny thing that happened: one of our party members got bucked off their horse so i turned into a horse to fix it and everyone laughed at me for like 5 minutes
