And a summary of headline conclusions, for anyone who doesn't want to read the full document.

any chance of doing a repeat each summer to see if things shift?

minor_ramblings: Cool, I can always add more info as and when!

drayma: Yeah, I was thinking of repeating the survey maybe every 2 years or so to see how things have changed.

It would be interesting to see if the assumptions/conclusions of this survey still hold true after a repeat!

this is a real interesting read, thanks for putting it together

i find it interesting that you note nobody seems to use hmds to seek feedback/look for ways to improve because that's basically the entire reason I do use them

and now i'm kicking myself for apparently not thinking to mention this in my comment

I like them because I can ask the game at large about specific things in my play/plotlines that I want feedback on, rather than putting up a blank comment and hoping someone comes to me

whereas if you do that on plurk all you get is OMG BB YOU'RE SO GOOD THO

Unless there's an attitude shift across dwrp, most people seem to see HMD's as a place-holder that acts sort of like a protective clause. If it's up there and nobody else is commenting then it's done it's job.
Ooh. Cool!

I can't remember if there was a box to tick for "I want feedback"? I don't think so

I'm sure at least some people do, I know I do

The number of NJ people is actually kind of funny to me, I'm not sure why. I think I've met like one person from there in all my time RPing?

Also, re: HMD, I enjoyed them for their purpose but they are also super anxiety-inducing, so while a comment with some concrit is appreciated, there's also a huge sense of relief when there's no comments

eirily: I meet more of us every year, actually! A bunch of us live in north jersey, around the NYC-adjacent spots

mister_inkwell: That's good to know! I'm sure there are players who actively seek feedback, but in my interpretation of the comments there was little evidence to suggest that this applies across the board.

drayma: Yes, in my own experience this is what tends to happen in HMD posts. In the survey comments, people seemed more concerned about having the opportunity to feedback if there was a problem...

...rather than actively seeking out feedback for themselves.
