I hope it works out great! I thought about the Paperwhite but got the wife an Amazon Fire instead, just because she likes all the Android apps that are on her other tablets.

yeah I got my wife a fire as well due to the tablet options. but she hates the battery life on it, and doesn't use the apps much. So I think she will be getting a paperwhite once we move..

i have a voyage (model above paperwhite) and it's great. Much better than using an iPad in my opinion.

unless the retail ones are on sale though, save money by getting certified refurb directly from Amazon. No difference from new and same warranty.

Paperwhite isn't backlit but has light that shines on it from sides so you can read at night. Can easily read in full sunlight / no glare. So has slight up on iPad in terms of readability and I don't like staring into backlights at night.
