First talking about S4E3, TFP, mostly anger and confusion appeared on my dashboard, together with disappointed comments under official tweets. We were all psyched about seeing a TRUE episode, or at least some explanations made, but sadly there is none until now.
I tried not to believe that being so cruel to Molly was simply to make Sherlock smash the coffin and show his weakness (like begging with so many “please”), but so far I couldn’t discover anything further. I just totally don’t get the coffin scene.
What we enjoyed about Sherlock was the magnificent deduction he made, the metaphors in each episode, and the connection between each metaphor. However, what TFP left for us was confusion.
Recalling an interview with Benedict Cumberbatch I read through few years ago, Sherlock in his words was a story about two men, isolated in different forms, trying to find a connection between each other and with the world.
From this point of view, episode 4 ended in the same place but not at the same height. Throughout the seasons, we’ve seen them struggling, losing people they love, and thrived in laughter and tears. It’s simply a story about our favorite baker street boys, about their advertures and the lovely people around them.
Also it’s nice to have Sian Brooke play for Euros. Her sallow face, hysterical movements and frenzied words impressed me so much with the role Ophelia in Hamlet with BC as well as Euros.
