Woo!
where are you moving to???
Not far. I'm still on the same street, but I've secured a house to rent so... XD
There are tenants still in it right now, but I should be signing lease on the ninth of next month.
It's probably the second most nerve wracking thing I've ever done.
Beaten out only by carrying £2000 through the centre of Oldham an hour ago XD
That sounds nice though! You don't have to lug your stuff very far, but you'll be OUT XD
What size is it? How much does it cost? /curious about British housing prices
Two bedrooms, mid-terrace (so, like... a row of houses all joined together), large lounge, extremely fucking large kitchen, my god it's huge, and a bathroom. Decently sized back yard, but no front because it's a main road. £450 a month.
Which is cheap for the area, and especially for the property type, but that's because it's on the main road, so there's traffic right outside the door.
But
A. I'm used to it. and
B. It's double glazed so you can't hear it.
I couldn't really see how big the second bedroom is because it's currently the "And this is where we've put everything we no longer use but can't bring ourselves to throw away" room for the current tenants.
I'm thinking just... all the bookshelves XD
that sounds awesome!! I want all the pictures
buy a million bookshelves
(also oh, that's what a terrace is!)
I got in there before they'd even took the pictures to advertise it or I'd be able to link you to some. Instead you're gonna have to wait until I get in there myself XD
ahaha good job getting it quickly! XD
Are you gonna have to buy a ton of furniture and kitchen stuff and all?
(yay someone else I know is moving into their own place, this is way too exciting XD )
I don't need a sofa, fridge, or oven, and I've cadged a kitchen table from my grandma, but I need a washing machine, and tumble dryer, and TV for the lounge, and bookcases, and probably other furniture I haven't thought of yet XD
I already own loads of kitchen stuff, the most I need on that front is cutlery and baking trays XD
Oh, and a kettle. I will need a kettle.
The stuff that's gonna peck my head is going to be things like... tea towels, a mop...
I keep having to go on additional shopping trips because I forgot dish soap or some shit
I've got a vacuum cleaner because parents decided to replace the dyson I bought for them with a G-Tech cordless toy, so I'm taking the dyson XD
I will probably live without an iron and ironing board XD
I have an iron that I bought 10-15 years ago and I still haven't taken it out of the box XD
That's because you're like me XD
I can use one, I just don't see the point unless I'm smartening up for an interview.
It's a lucky week if I've even folded my clothes. /terrible
Yeah, my mum went "Oh, you'll need a wardrobe"
I don't use one now, why the fuck would I need one in my own place?
she under the impression I'm going to move into my own house and immediately start hanging my clothes?
Again, I do actually have hanging clothes because my closet has a hanging bar, but they're the clothes I never wear except for interviews or weddings or shit. XD
Yeah, I currently hang those on the back of my bedroom door XD
THAT WORKS. XD Yeah, I'd never buy actual furniture for this kind of thing, I only have them because it's built-in.
Let's face it, we all have The Chair to hang clothes on.
Makes me think of Bill Bailey. "I don't want to steal your hotel coat hangers. I've got chairs at home to hang me clothes on."
btw tell me what kind of floor your new place has so I can decide how jealous to be
Carpet in the lounge and bedrooms, linoleum in the kitchen.
Today's purchases, incidentally, have included a washer, dryer, pans, knife set, toaster, and kettle.
I hope these are brightly coloured Wilko specials
oh okay, only moderately jealous then. (Mine are the same thing, although the linoleum tries really hard to look like tile.)
They're not, but they weren't exactly expensive, either XD
And yeah, the lino looks like tile in this place too
AHHHHHH I JUST SAW THIS PLURK! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Oh man, you are going to fucking LOVE your freedom!
Also, totally coming up for a sleepover when you're settled!
