ER visits suck, but at least they're good for fic inspiration. After all, there has to be a reason that Kai would rather suffer than see a doctor or healer.
He was like that in Campus too, but I never got a chance to explore it.
He'd get sick and disappear somewhere instead of seeing the nurse. Cold? Hiding in his room. The flu? Camping out in the auditorium's catwalks.
Seriously. For like a week.
He was busy claiming self-preservation.
Mostly from Bakura.
He had other reasons, but the extremely strong possibility that Ryou or Karasu would drag him to the nurse was his main motivation.
The few times he raided the nurse's office for supplies, he was a shadow.
I actually think the longest he was ever in there (beyond a five or ten minute raid) was when he was overseeing Ryou's care.
That was his fault (okay Bakura started the shit and Kai finished it, whoops), so he took responsibility and walked him there, then stuck around.
And felt miserable forever.
Blizzard is dangerous, kids. Don't flash freeze someone's hand as a warning.
Especially when that someone has a burn healing on that hand.
Even if they're being a dick and threatening to destroy one of your sketches.
Unless it's Bakura, then feel free. Just get the little shit his own body first.
