SO many people think that Witches is devil worshipper... i thought we're in 2017 not 1650
This topic is a can of worms depending on which definition and faith is observed. If you go to the Latin roots of the words pentacle and pentagram, it is much different than the present day associations with modern religious faiths. Many people observe the inverted pentacle, or pentagram, as being a form of man over spirit.
As well as the term "satanic witch", it is a bit of a stretch depending on which web from the vast majority of pagan faiths that person or persons follows. Paganism is an umbrella term, encompassing any faith that is not christian... so to have a christian idea be a base is odd for many to digest.
Don't get me wrong, there are individuals who connect with that sort of eclectic faith merge, you even have angel oracle cards and other items that are based in christian construct/monikers... but for many the connection of satan is the bastardization of Lucifer, Baphomet, Cernunnos, Herne, ect and other horned patriarch.
As well as it shouldn't be forgotten that many men, women, and children of all walks lots their lives over the supposed connection of satan with paganism, and still do. So it is a difficult subject on many levels from fashion to ethics, and faith. There much more to the occult world than what most assume to know...regardless research is important as was said
gets off soap box and crawls back to her shadowy corner
eliavah: Thank you for actually caring and wanting to be respectful rather than just making something, turning it black and purple, and tossing it out there <3
eliavah: yes there is an incredible amount of different ways. I for example am an eclectic Wicca, borrowing from all kinds of pantheons though mainly in the celtic one, and I don't believe in the existence of hell or what folks call 'the devil', good and bad is in
everything and the gods are not all 'good' and such.. it's rather complex and even while being 'inside' there is a TON I learn every time I talk with other pagans or even wiccans as there is not just one right way. It's very easy to get confused or overwhelmed. it's great that you are asking questions, you just might get many and also many
Ive also seen a lot of Wiccan stuff used in connection with evil / satanic / etc type of stuff. My eyes roll pretty far for it and I am neither satanic NOR a witch
eliavah: whew! reformed catholic here too! Girl... so much had to beUNlearned
OMG i know. I was raised Baptist until I was 21 .. so many things I had to unlearn and re-evaluate
chandnikhondji: what? you mean i DON'T have to feel shame about enjoying the body i am in? WHAT MADNESS!
My family is a colorful mix. I'm Wiccan, my parents baptists, my sister atheist, my aunt Jehova's Witness, we have some agnostics, some catholics, protestants, and a bunch of other religions all together. It is SO easy to live together and respect each other's religions without giving up ones own. I also love the discussions we
sometimes have lol But most of my family also connects the pentagram with the devil, which gives me a sadface
Corvus is heathen and I am a mash of eclectic witch and chaos magician. I have lots of friends with various creeds and faiths and i LOVE hearing about them. I am a theology nut and book worm
I follow the philosophy of the Buddha but love learning about everything! soak it all in!
^^^ you are never too young to learn. I also love the saying "if i am wrong educate me, don't belittle me"
