Ishida-sensei is the writer/artist behind the Tokyo Ghoul manga and has been taking a few questionable directions of late, but most of all he's already forced a heterosexual couple with two side characters who had barely seen each other since primary school--like the dude literally proposed to the girl at work after visiting there to eat a few times

But they're side characters so it's not THAT big a deal

however

He now seems to be pushing towards a relationship with Kaneki, the protagonist who has survived a physically abusive mother, an emotionally abusive aunt, and a large number of other traumas throughout the series

and Touka, his female friend he's spent less time with than any other major character who also hits him like...a lot

and in the last two chapters they had the first proper conversation with each other in literal years and she asked if he was a virgin and said she would let him have sex with her 'when the time comes'

I made list of why they would make a horrible couple without outright saying it the other day and it quickly got over 100 notes

But I had already been considering and sort of agonizing over tweeting ishida himself

Because this became my favorite manga series of all time, and Kaneki is one of the two most dear characters to my heart next to Tsukiyama

It's like seeing a friend who I know was physically abused end up with someone physically abusive

so it has bothered me way more than most things would

I've actually been really glad the adventure zone and Taako have started meaning so much to me because I've been thinking that if Ishida disappoints me here, I'll still have creators I can trust with my adoration

something to fall back on, in a way

that's how much I've been debating on this and it's been bugging me
