so i've got a waistband that fits my waist perfectly, with no stretch, from one of my TBOL skirts
i cut it out with the zipper attached, which may or may not (read: probably won't) work
the other materials i have are............the overskirt, which is a mauvey purple cotton skirt i literally never wore
because it's a length that i never really found anything i wanted to do with
and the underskirt: several layers of lace and tulle cut MOSTLY from a vintage dress
that is a size 2 approximately, from a vintage store, from when i was...unattractively skinny
so i don't even want to fit into it again
i have honestly no idea how well this is going to work, if at all
but i want to be able to at least cobble a skeleton together, to refine when the sewing machine is threaded and set up
i kind of want to build a high waist piece on it
and i have loads of boning from other things from when i wore a 2
that i could probably use, but that might be a bit overly ambitious without having a bunch of....idk, i'll try to figure out a way to make it work, because i know what Look i'm going for
full disclosure this is probably going to be beyond terrible and need scrapped
i'm having to make a new waistband
so this is already annoying
but at least vaguely amusing
i think i'm abandoning the waist thing idea because i know i'm gonna wear it with my cincher belt anyway
also i'm not gonna be able to do anything but pin it because i neeeeeeeeeeeeeed to iron this shit before i start sewing it, it's bad
the pintucking idea was a good idea
i may have created a viable skeleton
bagged it up for now, until i acquire an iron and get the machine out, BUT
it looks ok for a pile of literal nothing
i had enough width to pleat the overskirt
and i'm going to bricklay pintucks in all three layers to build volume
rn i have them pinned into the bottom and top layers
just to get a general idea, which is fine, cuz that's something i'll do by hand when the rest of it is done anyway
i should just have room to put in a zipper
and the waistband is the black with gold star fabric from the TBOL skirt
i think i'll eventually find some buttons or something that are also gold stars
to sew over the pintucks on the overskirt and hide them
