You're only saying "lesbian" when you use the actual sign shown in the diagram, in the context of genuine sign language. Deaf community sign languages are full languages, not gestures.

I studied British Sign Language and am interested in ASL too. They're proper languages that use facial expressions and body language, part of deaf people's culture.
