SHE POSTED THE CMYK VERSION ON FACEBOOK AND THE COLORS LOOK WHACK LMAO

anyway I was a little nervous about her writing this play bc, you know, older upper-middle class white woman writing from the perspective of poc

I'm not at all somebody who's like YOU CAN'T WRITE ABOUT MINORITIES UNLESS YOU'RE A MINORITY!!!!!!!!!!! bc that's stupid but I just wasn't really sure

but I think that as she's gotten much more politically active in recent years she's become very aware of her privilege and as far as I know she's sourcing experiences from immigrants in her community

so I think it's more like... her way of trying to use her privilege as a platform and direct attention to voices that wouldn't normally be heard, especially in a state like maine, which is still over 94% white

my hometown and its twin city actually have enormous immigrant/refugee populations so there's a lot to talk about even in her own backyard

God

when every designer gets to hell, the whole place is going to be in CMYK

but this is cool!

I sent her only the CMYK version so she could print it-- a foolish move in retrospect because of course she would also want to put it on facebook

but yeah, I'm hopeful this play will meet with the same success as her other works, especially since to my knowledge this is the first time she's written something that isn't heavily referenced by her own personal experiences

and of course it's extremely topical right now
