Good news, bad news, weird news!
GOOD NEWS: my student loans have been... forgiven, I guess, I've been released from my student loans on grounds of total and permanent disability.
This is a HUGE load off, especially since they had already been destroying my credit score for over a year. :')
BAD NEWS: SSI denial. Time for round three (appeal round two.)
WEIRD NEWS: The... unfavourable verdict letter was addressed to my next of kin. Whatever it was that led my student loan folks to believe I was dead appears to have reached the social security office??
well i suppose they can't grant SSI to a dead person
that is bizarre as hell, jesus christ
The judge also ruled ENTIRELY based on my psych evidence, there doesn't appear to have been any of my chronic fatigue syndrome stuff at ALL. Which... obviously makes his decision make more sense but also means I have to fix that, ha ha.
"hey I have two problems, the bigger one is this" "well based on the smaller one you don't qualify"
So anyway I'm gonna be spending Monday calling a lot of lawyers and also maybe the SSI office because I'm.......... not actually dead, uh.
In the meantime, we've reapplied for food stamps because it's been long enough since I was employed for that to no longer affect our allotment (which is good because when we both were working we got a whole 18 bucks in food stamps per month LOL)
And we're gonna be giving our landlord all the money we would have been spending on food, and basically maintaining financial... welfare.... that way.
This situation is tricky and very frustrating but it's not undoable and that's the important part, imo.
have you tried applying for housing?
hey, so the other day I saw someone tweeting a link to micro-grant applications for queer people for whatever (including basic living expenses). It's $500, so not an overwhelmingly huge sum, but maybe an extra month's rent or so? Would you like me to send you a link?
Oh man, that's more than a month of rent! That would be SUPER helpful.
makes strangling motions at ssi
